The Truth Behind Buy One Get One Free Coupon Savings
Posted January 19, 2010 – 5:19 pm in: Personal FinanceCoupons are becoming increasingly more popular as a way for cutting back on the cost of shopping. I have to admit though, I am the customer that used to stand in line complaining about how long it was taking for another customer to sift through their coupons. I had a very eye opening event though that completely changed my thoughts in regards to coupon users. A customer in front of me one day at the store was told by the cashier she had saved seventy dollars. Against my better judgment I asked how she saved so much. Her response was “I used a lot of buy one get one free coupons.”
When my purchase came to more than double for way less items than this customer had, I immediately decided to become a coupon user. As soon as I got home I immediately began researching the coupon phenomenon and how to use them.
I found coupons for things I never dreamed would have a discount available. As a kid my mom spent half of every Sunday cutting coupons from the paper, but I had no clue just how much money she was saving by spending our Sunday cutting coupons. I though what a better way to start than how mom did it, so I sat down with my paper and began cutting coupons for restaurants, car care and even a pack of diapers I could buy for my grandson.
There was one for the spa close to my house. I have always wanted to spend the day there being pampered but reality would set in and I knew money would prevent from it. The coupon stated bring a friend and receive a free massage with a manicure and pedicure purchase. The heavens open up and I called my sister. We spent three luxurious hours being pampered for thirty dollars each. I am now a believer in coupons.
It is possible to find a coupon valid for anything at any time. The hard part is deciding which ones will be used. If you eat out several times a week, there are coupons available to save you hundreds of dollars a year on pizza, burgers and specialty restaurants. It is important to read the restrictions of coupons used for restaurants prior to trying to use them. Some will require a specific food item or only a one topping pizza, however, there are some that are buy one meal and get another one free.
Coupons will vary in their amount as well. Some will offer a certain percentage off a total price or you must buy a specific product in order to get a discount on a different product. If you find a coupon for fifty cents off of a bag of bagels when you purchase a specific brand of tofu, however, you do not eat tofu; it would not be worth using the coupon. Saving fifty cents is nice but not if you have to spend five dollars on tofu that will be thrown out.
Gathering coupons is work, however, it is work that will pay off each time you use them. If you are unsure of how to begin using coupons, start small with cutting them out of the Sunday paper. There are numerous sites online that offer coupons for specific items you use and you could have the coupons sent to your email daily.
Coupons will make a big dent in the final cost at the cash register. You have to be dedicated to finding them and using them. Store ads will often times offer buy one get one free coupon for weekly items so check the store ads as well as the newspaper and online.
Even if you don’t find any Scottrade promo code, you should still sign up for them since you will be a very happy customer.
